Perceived parenting styles and emotional eating: The mediating role of coping styles

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role avoidance and compensatory coping styles in relationship between perceived parenting emotional eating adults. Method: sample consisted 301 individuals. Young Parenting Inventory, Emotional Eating Scale, Young-Rygh Avoidance Inventory Compensatory were used collect data. Results: Age; body mass index; overcompensating style responses rebellion counterdependency; distraction through activity seen significant predictors eating. However, variable model created did not indicate that had a effect on behavior. Conclusion: Consideration early maladaptive schemas is valuable understanding psychological processes involved results may be help develop greater insight into guide behavioral interventions.
